Paulding County Schools
Raymond Engineering-GA, LLC was retained to assist The Facility Group in developing design documents for Herschel Jones Middle School, a Paulding County School System facility. Because the structure consisted of an original building and additions, the existing roof systems were varied, including standing seam metal, lightweight insulating concrete fill, gypsum concrete on foam board and bulb tees, and structural concrete roofs. The standing seam metal roof had been applied over a built-up roof system on the original building, requiring both roof layers to be removed. Raymond Engineering designed a three-ply modified cap built up roof over tapered insulation for all areas requiring this removal. Additionally, we made the re-roofing process more economical by recommending repair over replacement and developing repair specifications for the existing standing-seam roof system on the gymnasium. We were able to ensure a shedule that involved all hot work to occur durring the school calendar recess.
