Newton County Schools

Raymond Engineering-GA, LLC has provided design services for a number of Newton County Schools including East Newton Elementary School and Palmer Stone Elementary School. In the case of these two schools, an unexpected appoval of funds late in the year necessitated a compressed design schedule in order for roofing to be completed before the upcoming the school year.

Raymond Engineering designed a tapered-insulation, built-up roof system for both of these schools. During the tear-off of the existing roof at East Newton Elementary School, the overhang collapsed due to a poorly constructed structural support assembly. As a result, we designed a new eave support system that was installed to ensure the structural integrity of the roof. Missing blocks from the wall at an expansion joint caused sagging of the roof, and we acquired a structural engineer to assist us with the process of jacking up the steel joist so that a new support blocking could be installed.
